چکیده

The effects of surface plasmon polaritons (SPPs) on the efficiency, series resistance, and shunt resistance thin-film Si solar cells are studied analyzed in this work. Different SPP shapes their optical electrical properties thereby efficiency studied. Semiconductor electromagnetic models incorporated to study behaviors cells, respectively, using COMSOL Multiphysics three-dimensional (3D) numerical simulation software. An 14.76% is achieved for triangular SPPs, representing a 1.07% improvement compared with SPP-free cells. cell parameters also extracted based single-diode equivalent model. decreased by 3% having equilateral-triangle SPPs

Surface plasmon-polariton mediated light emission through thin metal films.

The emission of light by sources in close proximity to a thin metallic film is dominated by surface plasmon-polariton modes supported by that film. We explore the nature of the modes and examine how the energy lost to such modes can be recovered. Both cross-coupled and coupled SPPs are presented as a means of transferring energy across a thin metal film. These modes are then scattered and there...

Towards high efficiency thin film solar cells

As an alternative to single crystal silicon photovoltaics, thin film solar cells have been extensively explored for miniaturized cost-effective photovoltaic systems. Though the fight to gain efficiency has been severely engaged over the years, the battle is not yet over. In this review, we comb the fields to elucidate the strategies towards high efficiency thin films solar cells and provide poi...

The Effect of Doping and the Thickness of the Layers on CIGS Solar Cell Efficiency

The main problemswith the use of fossil fuels is the restrictions on their access and the detrimental consequences of their use which causes a threat to human health and quality of life. Consequently, the use of other energy sources has become necessary. Renewable Energy as a permanent and clean energy source is an answer to this problem. One such energy source includes photovoltaic solar energ...

Near-field Moiré effect mediated by surface plasmon polariton excitation.

We have demonstrated a surface plasmon polariton mediated optical Moiré effect by inserting a silver slab between two subwavelength gratings. Enhancement of the evanescent fields by the surface plasmon excitations on the silver slab leads to a remarkable contrast improvement in the Moiré fringes from two subwavelength gratings. Numerical calculations, which agree very well with the experimental...
